About our World Usability Day Celebration
TriUPA will celebrate World Usability Day this year on Thursday, November 13th, at GSK.
We have created a program that centers around UPA's theme of transportation. We are fortunate to have two speakers who have worked in the transportation field and can enlighten us about the usablity challenges in products and services in that area.
We have also changed the Design Challenge to allow participants several weeks to work on their design problem. The teams will be presenting their results at WUD. You cannot afford to miss this year's WUD, so please sign up!
6 pm - 6:45 pm: Dinner will include an a UX trading card game. Attendees with a complete set will be eligible for a raffle!
6:45 pm - 7:45 pm: Transportation and Usability
- Talk by Graham James, Professional Transportation Planner
- Talk by Beth McGough, Human Factors Engineer, JCI, Michigan
- Talk by Alex Hussain, Design Engineer, HumanCentric
7:45 pm - 8 pm: Break and dessert.
8 pm - 9 pm: Presentations by teams competing in the Design Challenge
- Modular design system for bus stops
- Wayfinding and information displays for bus travel
- SAS team (topic?)
Presentation of prizes for UX Card game winner and Design Challenge winners.
Directions
From Raleigh:
- Take I-40 West to the Durham Freeway (147) North.
- Follow the Durham Freeway and take the Alexander Drive exit.
- Turn left off the exit and move to the right lane.
- Take a right into the GlaxoSmithKline campus at the 2nd stoplight. This is GSK’s main driveway, Moore Drive.
- Turn RIGHT onto the 4th driveway (East Loop Rd)
- Turn at 2nd RIGHT, onto parking ramp.
- Park and find the stairs at the corner of parking lot.
- Walk down the stairs and follow walk way into Ruvane Building.
- Meeting Room: Ruvane Building Auditorium.
From Durham:
- Take the Durham Freeway (147) South to the Alexander Drive exit, and turn right off the exit (stoplight).
Follow the Durham Freeway and take the Alexander Drive exit.
- Stay in the right turn lane and turn right at the next stoplight onto the GSK’s main driveway, Moore Drive.
- Turn RIGHT onto the 4th driveway (East Loop Rd)
- Turn at 2nd RIGHT, onto parking ramp.
